Structural Engineering

Noriker Consulting Engineers Ltd. is a small structural engineering practice based in North Yorkshire, serving a national client base.

The company maintains a strong network of allied professionals including chartered engineers, drafters and contractors, who we draw on to help deliver a top quality service, all underpinned by our professional indemnity insurance.

Noriker intentionally remains a small company, meaning that every project receives the same level of attention, service and characteristic dedication to seeing even the most challenging projects to structural completion. We believe that this can best be provided by a small organisation.

It is a company founded on respect and simplicity. We have respect for our clients, we respect our work, and we respect the environment.

We are confident in our abilities, revel in the obscure and will always rise to the challenge.

Structural Design
Noriker's design services include structural analysis of steel, concrete, masonry and timber, to Eurocodes and British standards, where appropriate.

Past projects have included design of building structures such as industrial facilities, offices and new dwellings; and design of bespoke structures for industry, often with a challenging brief involving structural dynamics.

We also work on smaller scale projects such as structural calculations for extensions, re-development and loft conversions to satisfy building control.

We aim to distil the complex into elementary elegance. We strive for pragmatic and affordable solutions.

Careers
Noriker Consulting Engineers Ltd. is looking to recruit a structural engineer and also a structural detailer/draughtsperson to provide assistance with a growing workload for new and established clients.

The company was founded in 2017 and has intentionally and necessarily remained small; our focus is on customer care and quality. However, the time has come to expand our capacity such that the same level of attention and care can be provided to each project. Most of our work is on industrial and high-end residential projects and we do a smaller amount of commercial work (offices, shops) each year. We are increasingly being asked to provide expert services for disputes.

Our offices are currently at the beautiful Broughton Hall business park, just outside of Skipton. Skipton is a thriving market town in North Yorkshire which is known as the 'Gateway to the Dales' and has been voted as the best place to live in the UK several times in the press.

Structural engineers: You will have an intuition for structures, be highly analytical and understand the practical limitations of your analysis. A strong technical education would be a benefit but above all you will be a highly practical person who can think of a good way to make almost anything.

Applicants with some experience are preferred, but graduates are also encouraged to apply. Similarly, those at the other end of their career who may wish to step back from a large practice but would like to maintain an income and are not willing to or ready to retire yet would also be welcomed.

Alternatively, if you are chartered or nearly chartered, able to bring some clients with you, develop new relationships, develop staff and manage a heavy turnover we would be pleased to have a frank discussion about future progression in a partnership.

Structural detailers / draughtsperson: You will have experience detailing and designing steel, masonry, timber and concrete structures. Typical work would involve using a 2D program to modify architects' drawings to communicate structural arrangements and produce the construction details to achieve the structural design intention. Ability with RC detailing and bar schedule production is essential.

This opening is ideal for an experienced candidate who can work independently and would like to progress to managing their own team. For the right candidate we would be pleased to have a frank discussion about future progression in a partnership.

The jobs will be based at our offices. Salary, holiday and other benefits depend on experience and responsibility. Full time 40hrs/week.

This is a rare opportunity to get in at the ground floor and take this small company to whatever level you have the ambition for - and most importantly be fairly rewarded for the essential work which we believe engineers perform for society.

If you would like to apply, please email us at fiona@norikerconsulting.co.uk with a CV and covering letter. Please also get in touch if you would like to enquire about any aspect of the company or job roles.

Note to agencies
We prefer to recruit candidates directly, rather than through a third party recruiter or agency. We will only pay a fee for candidates submitted or presented where there is a signed recruiting agreement in place between us and the recruiter or agency prior to the submittal, and the candidate is submitted for a specific requisition.
In the case of a candidate(s) being submitted or presented to us by a recruiter or agency without a signed agreement, Noriker Consulting Engineers Ltd. explicitly reserves the right to pursue and hire those candidate(s) without any financial obligation to the recruiter or agency.
